Women's History Month: Misty Bennett

Misty was a Mom first and foremost, and her family always came first. She lived every day as if it were her last – with kindness, passion, service, and much more. Misty, being a breast cancer Survivor herself, understood the unfortunate trends surrounding breast cancer in West Virginia and was determined to make a difference. She saw the vision of how she and just a handful of others could come together and form a WV grassroots breast cancer organization. And to be able to say with 100% certainty that 100% of funds that were raised in West Virginia would stay right here and help our fellow Mountaineers. Alongside Misty, we helped put her ideas into action and founded WVBHI.

Sadly, we lost our beloved Misty when WVBHI was only 6 months old. So, today and every day, we honor her memory and vision through our community outreach and charitable giving program, Misty’s Seeds of Hope. Misty’s Seeds of Hope has funded everything: mammograms, ultrasounds, diagnostic services, gas cards, electric bills, compression garments, wigs, and so much more. She is our guardian angel that continues to help us plant seeds of hope to ensure West Virginians can continue to get the help and hope they need. We truly, would not be here without her.
